The League of Women Voters of the Pikes Peak Region
congratulates Rosemary Harris, winner of the second annual
"Making Democracy Work" Award.

The award honors a woman in the community who has been a leader and actively engaged in hands-on work to keep the community a strong and vibrant place to live.

Rosemary Harris, President, NAACP Colorado Springs Branch

Ms. Harris has long advocated for citizen awareness of political choices and for the protection of human and civil rights for all people. Previously a columnist for the Colorado Springs Gazette, she won the Journalist of the Year Award for coverage of the Hillside Community, among other awards. She makes democracy work through her strong support for diversity and her passionate and articulate communication of the tenets of democracy.
